We were just outside of Evanston and only a couple hours into our 9 hour drive when Lee got a flat tire on the bike. We got lucky with multiple things with this situation. First of all, Lee didn't go down when he got the flat. It was the rear tire, so he was able to keep control of the bike and get pulled over. Also, had we been further into our trip we would have been in the middle of nowhere and the only thing we could have done was to have the bike towed to the nearest town and left there because nobody was open on a Sunday. We would have to figure out how and when to get the bike back up to Lee in Gillette. Instead, we called my parents and they drove up to Evanston with the trailer to take the bike back home. We are so grateful to them for doing that for us, so we could continue on to Gillette so Lee could get there in time to start his job.
The rest of the trip was great. It is a long boring drive with not much to look at, but I thought these windmills were cool.
Lee has been training the last few days and is getting settled into his apartment. So far he is liking the job.
We miss eachother so much and he really misses the dogs. This next year isn't going to be easy, but it will be worth the sacrifice. We have no idea how long he will do this job, or if I will eventually move up there with him. I stress about that. I didn't love the town. It's very small and not much to do. Lee will be working nights, and if I move there and get a job, we will still never see eachother. I would rather stay here and keep the job that I've had for 14 years and stay in the home we just got into. We are going to make it work and fly Lee home on his off weeks. That will give him more time at home and then I won't have to worry about him making that long drive home.
